Genesee Christian Schools annual Benefit Auction takes place every March. Over the past 10 years, the auction has raised over $1,000,000 to help with increased security, bathroom renovations, parking lot construction/repairs, playground equipment, chrome book lab, computer upgrades, smart boards, gym and locker room renovations, as well as supplementing the general fund to meet operating expenses.
Sponsors and Ads
Many businesses sponsor our auction or place ads in our auction catalog to support GCS. There are several different levels of sponsorship and ad sizes to choose from. The entire event is underwritten by our sponsors. Businesses help us to put on the event and ALL of the profits go directly to the school. If you own a business or know someone that does, this is a great way to support GCS!
How it Works
The donation team and our school families ask businesses for tax deductible donations of items, services, or gift certificates for us to auction at our benefit. People attend the benefit and enjoy a catered meal, fellowship with friends and have an opportunity to bid on a large variety of items at a price less than retail price. 100% of the income from winning bids go to GCS.
Tips on How to Get Donations
Many businesses and restaurants (Buffalo Wild Wings, Bagger Dave’s, Italia Gardens, etc) have a monthly allotment for charitable donations. Ask for inventory (gift cards, brand new items, etc.) that businesses can part with and write off. Ask businesses you frequent, friends and family that do crafts or own their own business or service. You can also purchase desired items to donate to the auction. This can benefit the school if you are finding great deals on new items (black Friday, discounted items, etc.).
Donation Items We Love
Any new item/service priced at $10 or more makes a great donation. Gift cards/certificates, handmade crafts, timeshare vacations, handmade corn hole toss games, tickets to sporting events, cottage rental, airplane sky tour, brand new jewelry, small appliances, sports memorabilia, gift certificates for beauty services, lawn services, and car maintenance are just a few of the great items that have been donated to previous auctions.
Auction Night- March 19, 2022
Ticket sales will open at the end of January. The auction event is an elegant evening that includes a catered sit-down dinner. There is a silent auction and a live auction with Chris Swanson as our live auctioneer. It is a fun evening that will be filled with games, pictures, food, and a lot of laughs! Online bidding will also be available for people who cannot attend the in-person event.
