‘Tis the Season-for Sickness and Flu
With flu season in full-swing please be diligent in monitoring your child’s health.  School policy is that children must be fever-free (without medication) with no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.

Combined Elementary & HS Christmas Concert 

Make your plans to join us for an enjoyable evening of Christmas music at the all-school Christmas Concert on Friday, December 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Mayfair Bible Church.  The concert will include musical numbers from all of the elementary students and several high school groups.  All students involved in the concert will be expected to arrive at the church at 6:30 p.m.   Doors will open to guests at 6:15 p.m.  Teachers will not be in the assigned classrooms until 6:45, so students must stay with parents until 6:45.

Winter Outerwear

The weather outside is cold.  Please send your child to school every day with boots, snow pants, coats, hats and gloves.  Please label all outerwear. The school does not provide “in case you forgot” extras. Students need the fresh air and movement breaks. Unless the wind chill or temperature is too low, we WILL be going outside!

Bucks for Bibles Day – Friday, December 12

The next Bucks for Bibles day is scheduled for this Friday. Elementary students may bring a dollar to wear athletic pants and t-shirts.

Christmas Concert

The GCS Christmas Concert is quickly approaching!  The concert will be this Friday evening, December 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Mayfair Bible Church.  Doors will open at 6:15; teachers will not be in the assigned classrooms until 6:45, so students must stay with parents until 6:45.

Elementary girls concert attire: Girls should wear a dressy Christmas outfit; please be sure that it meets the GCS dress standards (knee-length, no sleeveless).

Elementary boys concert attire: Boys should wear nice pants (no jeans, please) and a red or green collared shirt or sweater (no t-shirts, please).

Little Caesars Fundraiser Delivery- Tomorrow

Mark your calendar and plan to pick up your pizza kits this Tuesday, December 9, at 3:05 in the high school cafeteria.  We do not have freezer space to store them for you –  they must be picked up that day.

Bucks for Bibles- Friday, December 12

The next Bucks for Bibles day is scheduled for this Friday. Bring $1 or more to wear school-approved jeans.  This is a fundraiser for our Bible project. 

Christmas Concert

The GCS Christmas Concert is quickly approaching!  The concert will be this Friday, December 12, at 7:00 p.m. at Mayfair Bible Church.  Students should arrive at 6:30 p.m. (doors will open at 6:15 p.m.)  Please make sure that you have purchased the required concert attire if you are a part of the concert (6th graders, 7th graders, MS orchestra, and HS Choir).  See links here:

MACS Fine Arts Competitions:

Registration sheets have already been given to the students for these events. 

  • 6th grade registration forms are overdue.
  • High school registration forms are overdue.
  • 7th-9th grade forms are due by December 12th.

NO money is due now; this is just for registration purposes.

Christmas Activities

On Friday, December 19, the GCS high school students will be going ice skating and the middle school students will be going bowling.  If your student will not be attending these activities, they must fill out a pre-arranged form for the absence (available in the office). Monday, 12/15 – Grinch Day 

Dress in green or as your favorite character from How the Grinch Stole Christmas

 

Tuesday, 12/16 – Winter Wonderland Day 

Dress in blue and white or as anything snowy

 

Wednesday, 12/17-  Candy Cane Lane Day 

Dress in red or white in a candy-cane theme

 

Thursday, 12/18 – Cozy Christmas Day

Dress cozy and warm – hats, scarves, blankets, slippers, sweats, or athletic pants. The Student Council will be selling goodies and giving away free hot cocoa!

 

Friday, 12/19 – It’s About to Get Ugly Day 

Dress in your ugliest Christmas sweater.

 

General Instructions about dress days:

  1.   If hats are worn, they must be off during class.
  2.   Jeans may be worn Monday-Friday (loose-fitting jeans, no holes, frays, or skinny jeans) if participating in the   

      dress day.

  1.   A no-collar rule applies for the week for the guys if they participate in the dress day.
  2.   Full-face painting is not allowed during the school day but may be worn for games.
  3.   Spray-on hair coloring is allowed during the school day if it is part of the “dress” for the day.
  4.   GCS modesty standards apply every day.
  5.   The regular dress code still applies for those who do not participate in the dress days.

Athletic Physicals🩺

For the 2025-26 school year, an MHSAA sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2025 to be considered a valid physical for 2025-26. – This applies to any students participating in high school and middle school sports.

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have this physical form on file by the first day of practice. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

      

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

 ➽➽Varsity – $150.00   ➽➽JV – $125.00  ➽➽  Junior High – $100.00   ➽➽  Jet League – $50.00

 

🏀HS Boys Basketball: 9th-12th Boys

The Athletic department appreciates your help in making our Home Games a success.

Our Soldiers need volunteers for the admissions table and game clock. 

Bonus: your immediate family gets into the games for free that night!  

🏀HS Girls Basketball: 

    • The first game is scheduled for Monday, December 15th @ Linden
  • (Varsity Girls at 7:00pm) 
  • Sports Fee of $150 is due on Monday, 12/15. Cash or check (made payable to GCS) accepted.

        

It’s Time to Return Uniforms:

🏀4th/5th/6th Grade Girls Basketball Program: 

  • Please note that washed / clean uniforms are overdue. We use these same uniforms for our boys league.  Receiving them back in a timely manner is important.  We appreciate your promptness.  

🏀4th/5th/6th Grade Boys Jet League Basketball Program: General Information

GCS participation in this league depends on if we have enough players to fill a team and coaching availability.   

All games are played on Saturdays during the time frame of 8 am to 3 pm, with each game taking an hour to play. Games run January 10th through March 7th (no games February 14th).   

Teams typically practice twice a week @ the elementary gym (times/days TBD).

$50 sports fee for all participants due by the first game.

Admission will be charged for all spectators ($4 for individual ticket, $10 for family ticket, $2 for Senior ticket 60 and over).
