The next order for physical cards will be tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6.

Sweetest Day Orders 

Sweetest Day is approaching quickly!  You can order a candy bar, sucker, or flower for your child, grandchild, friend, or teacher.  The deadline for orders is today.  If you forgot, please send your order in tomorrow. Deliveries will be made on Friday, October 16th. Thank you for supporting the Junior class!

Picture packages will be delivered mid-October.  Picture retakes are scheduled for October 29. Students who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken on retake day.

Grandparents’ Day – October 23 

Please return the envelopes in your child’s folder addressed and stamped by Thursday, October 8. The program will be at South Baptist Church on Friday, October 23rd, at 10:00 am. This event is for grandparents (or stand-in grandparents) only.

Fall Weather Approaching 

Because of the cooler mornings, the grass is wet for morning gym classes and recess.  Please send an extra pair of socks with your child.

Parent Teacher Conferences- Oct 22

There will be no school for students on Thursday, October 22. Please call the school office (810.743.3110) to set up an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher.

Lost and Found

Please make sure to visit the lost and found in the Student Services office. Lost and found will be cleaned out and items will be donated to a local charity on a regular basis due to space restrictions. 

 

PSAT Testing – Juniors

Juniors will be taking the PSAT test on Wednesday morning, October 7th.  Please be sure to be in attendance on that day.  Students should be in the cafeteria by 8:10 a.m. – please be on time as late comers will not be allowed into the testing room.

Washington DC Trip

The next $200 payment, per participant, is due Friday, Oct 9.

Middle & High School Parent Teacher Conferences – October 22, 2026

On Thursday, October 22nd  there will be no school for students.

Conferences will be 10:00-12:00, 1:00-4:30, and 5:30–7:00 p.m. 

Each parent who wishes to meet with a teacher may do so on a first-come, first-served basis at the Middle/HS.  We are asking that parents keep meeting times to 5 minutes per conference. This should allow parents to speak with each teacher regarding their student’s grades/progress and will keep waiting time to a minimum.  

Junior And Senior Parent Meeting

The meeting for Juniors, Seniors, and their parents will be October 22nd at 7pm in the HS cafeteria.  Please plan to attend this meeting as we will be covering many important details for Juniors and Seniors:

  • GCS events for Juniors and Seniors (fundraisers, senior trip, etc.)
  • College application process – FAFSA, College Board, class selection, etc.
  • Options for paying for college
  • Deadlines – AP testing, Jostens, final transcripts, etc…

 

Drivers Training

🏀Middle School Girls Basketball Sign Ups: 

7th and 8th grade middle school girls interested in playing basketball this season can sign up this week in the Athletic Office.

MS Girls Practices start up November 2nd.

  • Sports Fee of $125 is due on Monday, 11/9.

Sports Fees

Each student-athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

Athletic Physicals🩺

For the 2026-27 school year, an MHSAA sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2026 to be considered a valid physical for 2026-27. – This applies to any students participating in high school and middle school sports. 

The MHSAA two-page physical form can be found using this link. MHSAA26-27SportsPhyscialForm and is available in the school offices.

 

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have this physical form on file by the first day of practice. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.
