School Play 

The GCS Drama Department will be presenting I Remember Mama this Friday & Saturday, April 17 & 18.

 I Remember Mama tells the story of the Hanson family, Norwegian immigrants in early 20th-century San Francisco. Through the memories of eldest daughter Katrin, the play highlights Mama’s wisdom, sacrifice, and love, which hold the family together through struggles and joys alike.

DATES:  April 17-18

TIME:     7:00 PM

PLACE: GCS High School Gym

PRICE:  Tickets are $8 and may be purchased in the school office in advance OR may be purchased at the door

Summer Tutoring

Mrs. Armbrust, a middle school teacher, is offering personalized tutoring in reading, math (through Algebra II), or language/grammar. Summer is the perfect time to review key concepts and receive extra support for upcoming classes. Please contact Michelle Armbrust at marmbrust@geneseechristianschool.com if you are interested in scheduling tutoring.

Latchkey Statements

Please remember to have all latchkey accounts paid in full by the end of the school year.  Statements are sent to your email address on file, unless a paper copy is requested.  Contact Cheryl Britton at cbritton@geneseechristianschool.com if you have not received any statements or have questions about your account.  Failure to make a payment will result in a $25 late fee charge.

Academic Testing

Elementary IOWA testing began TODAY! It is important that students get good sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Please do your best to make sure your students are at school on time for these important testing days. 

Slush EVERY Day!

With testing this week, we will take a few extra breaks and have slush available every day this week!

Kindergarten Enrollment 

Do you know someone who has a five year old ready for Kindergarten in the fall?  We want to meet families personally and take them on their own tour of the school.  Invite them to fill out an inquiry on our school website to schedule a tour or for more information. Inquiry form

It’s Spring!

Our playground will be muddy for the next several weeks.  Please send boots, extra socks and outerwear with your child to keep them dry.

Elementary Spring Concert 

Our 1st – 5th graders are working hard to prepare for our Spring Concert on May 1.  It will be held at South Baptist Church at 7:00 pm.

Middle/High School

Academic Testing

  • PSAT 9 and PSAT 10 – All 9th graders will be taking the PSAT 9 on Tuesday, April 14th.  All 10th graders took the PSAT 10 today (Monday, April 13th).
  • IOWA Testing –  Students in 6th-8th grades will be participating in IOWA testing on April 14-15.

*Please do your best to make sure that your students are at school on these important testing dates.

Honor Society Induction- 4/16 

There will be an induction ceremony for the new Honor Society members on Thursday, April 16 at 2:15 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Please let Ms. Eskew know how many from your family will be able to attend. heskew@geneseechristianschool.com

 

JH MACS Participants – Please check your email for details

Permission slips are due on Friday, April 17th! JH MACS is next Friday, April 24th. The event is held this year at Faith Christian School in Clinton Township: 34950 Little Mack Ave., Clinton Twp, 48035. Students must wear concert dress. 

Meet at the HS cafeteria by 7:00am! ALL students MUST ride the bus in the morning. No students will be able to ride the MTA bus home from school that day; please make other transportation arrangements. Refer to the emailed schedule and MACS reminder for detailed information.

Bible Project Parent Volunteers Needed – April 27 & 28

Our high school gym will be transformed into a Bible factory on Monday & Tuesday, April 27-28.  The students have been working hard all year to raise money for the printing of 90,000 copies of John and Romans.  We are now ready to assemble them.  We need parent volunteers to help in the morning and afternoon to make this final step a success.  If you are willing to come in and help, please contact Mrs. Mein at mmein@geneseechristianschool.com.  

 

Please also consider donating to help cover costs for the final expenses to complete the 90,000 copies. Checks can be made payable to Genesee Christian School with “Bible Project” in the memo and turned in to either school office. 

 

MS/HS Spring Concert 

The MS/HS Spring Concert is coming up on Thursday, April 30, at 7:00 PM in the HS gym.  Come enjoy an evening of music presented by our students!

 

Junior-Senior Banquet

This year’s Junior-Senior Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 2nd. Tickets for the Junior-Senior Banquet are available now for $50 and must be purchased by this Wednesday, April 15th.  Juniors and Seniors have received an email with details.

Senior Open Houses

Please send the date, time, and location of your senior’s open house to Mrs. Mein at mmein@geneseechristianschool.com.  We are compiling a document to give to the seniors with all of the open houses listed.  We have shared this document with senior parents to help avoid overlapping dates/times.

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

Spring Team Picture Day:  Spring Team & Individual Photos are scheduled for middle school and high school spring sports teams on Monday, 4/20

  • Men’s Golf Team:  10 am at HS 
  • MS & Varsity Baseball Teams 3:30 pm at HS fields
  • Varsity Girls Soccer Team 3:30-4:00 pm at EL fields

Bring complete uniforms and be ready right after school.  Everyone must be in the team pictures which are used for the yearbook.  Individual pictures will only be taken if you tell the photographer you are ordering.
