Picture Retake Day & K4 Pictures- Thursday, October 26th
Picture packages (K5-12) were delivered last week.  Picture retakes are scheduled for this Thursday, October 26th.  Preschool, K4 students and those who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken. If you would like your child’s picture retaken, please send their original picture packet to give to the photographer on Thursday.

End of Marking Period and Report Cards

This Friday, October 27, is the end of the first quarter.  Elementary report cards will be sent home on Monday, October 30.  Middle/High School report cards will be sent home on Thursday, November 2.

 

Scrip Holiday Bonus

The Christmas season is approaching QUICKLY! During November and December Raise Right (aka Scrip) offers a wide variety of bonuses including $5 and $10 gift cards. Orders for physical cards will be placed on the following Tuesdays at 9am 11/7, 11/28, 12/5 and 12/12. 

 

Lace Up for Learning- 5K Run/Walk

Dr. Wax Orthodontics is giving back to local schools through their “Lace Up for Learning 5K Run/Walk.” This is an all ages family-friendly event! All speeds (walk/run/trot) are welcome to join us on Saturday, November 4th at 9:30am at the Deer Run Soccer Complex (16021 Linden Rd, Linden). Blood Drive


The Honor Society students of Genesee Christian School are reaching out into our community by sponsoring an American Red Cross Blood Drive.

The blood drive is scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2023 from 9:00am to 2:45pm in the High School Cafeteria.

AM/PM Latchkey Parents – Please remember to sign your child in and out of the latchkey book provided.

Snacks are available during pm latchkey only.  $15 snack tickets may be purchased in the daycare or pm latchkey room.

Auction News

Parents, please check your child’s folder for an important letter about the auction class basket project for this year.  Each class, as a group, is donating a basket (or item) to help support the auction and WE NEED YOUR HELP! The letter explains all of the details of this project.  Thanks in advance for your help!

  

Operation Christmas Child Boxes

With the cooler weather moving in the holidays don’t feel so far away! We will be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child again this year. Our goal is for each class to pack two boxes – one for a boy and one for a girl. Families may send in items to be packed. Students will write letters, color pictures, and  be praying for the children who receive these boxes as they hear the salvation message. 

If you would like to order through Amazon (optional) or to view the items on the “wish list” here is a link:  https://a.co/7WGadNz This link does not include the “Wow” items (such as dolls, balls, etc) needed to complete our boxes. We need to have boxes packed by the beginning of November so help us get items early!  

We will also need financial donations for shipping the boxes.  At $10 per box this year we are looking to raise around $200 just for the shipping.  If you are able to help with shipping please send in cash or check payable to GCS to the elementary office.

 

Fall Weather is HERE

With the arrival of cooler weather, the grass is wet for morning gym classes and recess.  Please send a jacket and an extra pair of socks with your child.

Annual Fall Fundraising

Time for you, your friends, and your family to stock up with Little Caesars Pizza Kits.  Have a pizza on hand for quick dinners, birthday parties or entertaining.  The pizza kits are fun to make and delicious to eat. This optional fundraiser earns money for students to be applied to their upcoming trip to Mackinaw, Creation Trip, Washington DC, and/or Senior Trip. Fundraiser packets were sent home Friday with all 6th – 9th graders as well as some Juniors and Seniors.  Find a student today to place your order!  Contact Mrs. Heath with questions at kheath@geneseechristianschool.com

Athletic Physicals🩺Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

JV/Varsity  – $100.00    

Junior High – $75.00   

5th & 6th – $50.00

5th/6th Grade Combined Girls Jet League Basketball:

Note: All teams will play 1-2 games each Saturday spanning eight weeks. The season is scheduled to end on December 2nd. No games November 25th. League games will be played in the 8:00 am-3:00 pm time block each week.

Varsity Boys Soccer⚽: Clean uniforms are due back to the athletic office by tomorrow, October 24th.

Boys Jet League Basketball: 

The coordinator of Jet League Basketball is hoping to have a boys 4th, 5th & 6th grade winter program with games beginning the first week in January.  GCS participation in this league depends on  if we have enough players to fill a team and coaching availability.   Sign-up will be in November, please stay tuned for more information.
