Sickness and Flu Reminders
With flu season in full-swing please be diligent in monitoring your child’s health.  School policy is that children must be fever-free (without medication) with no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.  

Auction News

We need YOUR help to make the GCS Benefit Auction a success! PLEASE invite grandparents, friends, family, and fellow GCS families to join your table on March 16.

We are just weeks away from our donation deadline and we still need many items and advertisements for the auction, so please continue to bring in any type of auction donation – gift cards, handmade crafts, small appliances, jewelry, purses, etc. (brand new items, valued at $10 or higher). Please be sure to fill out the donation form when turning in any auction donations so your family can get the credit. Enrollment Opening Soon

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year opens on March 1st.  More information to come soon.  A few things to keep in mind for yearly enrollment.  

Blood Drive

THANK YOU to all who donated blood at our February blood drive. 28 units were collected for those in need. Our next drive is scheduled for November 22, 2024!

GCS Dodgeball Tournament – Saturday, March 2nd

Dodge, duck, dip, and dive in the GCS Dodgeball Tournament on Saturday, March 2 at 3pm.

  • Grab some friends
    • 5 players per team but you may have extra subs
    • $5/player (proceeds to support Soldier Volleyball)
    • We’d like to have enough teams for multiple age divisions (elementary, middle school, high school, and adults can play too)
  • Come up with a team name
  • Registration is due by Friday, February 23rd

Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey

 

Daycare/Preschool Enrollment

We are taking applications for the 2024-2025 school year.  If you are interested in enrolling your child in our program, please contact Mrs. Kubczak at kkubczak@geneseechristianschool.com to schedule a tour.

All students 4 years old and younger must enroll through the daycare/preschool program.

Latchkey Snacks

We are offering a variety of snacks for your child to purchase while they are in PM Latchkey.  Latchkey 

snack tickets are available at $15 each.

Good Friday- Daycare Closed

The daycare will be closed Friday, March 29 for Good Friday.  

Elementary

Elementary MACS Fine Arts Competition

Our 4th and 5th grade students will be participating in the Elementary MACS Fine Arts Competition this Friday, February 23. It will be held at Bethany Christian School in Troy. Students who are riding the bus to MACS must be in the High School cafeteria (north side of the building) by 7:45 a.m. to be counted and loaded onto the bus. All students will meet at Bethany Christian in Room 205 at 9:00 a.m.  The students should be in concert dress. This will be an exciting day of art, music and speech for our students. There is a spectator fee of $5 per person at the door. Come and support our talented Soldiers!

Lego Robotics–3rd and 4th grade

Join us on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30 for Robotics Club! Parents are encouraged to come and participate in the fun! It’s amazing what you can do with Legos.

Kindergarten Enrollment (K5) 

Do you know someone who has a five year old ready for Kindergarten?  We want to meet families personally and take them on their own tour of the school. New families can go to the GCS website to submit an inquiry for more information https://geneseechristianschool.com/info/#admissions

Middle/High School

 

6th Grade-MACS Fine Arts Competition

MACS competition for those in 4th-6th grade is this Friday! ALL 6th grade students need to be at the HS building by 7:45 am! Please remember to wear concert dress (see today’s email for details). The bus will leave at 7:50 am. We WILL need the extra drive time in order to be at the competition by the event start time. The GCS bus will be returning from the event to GCS by approximately 2:45 pm so students will be able to ride the MTA buses home if needed. 

This will be a wonderful day of art, music, and speech for our students.There is a spectator fee of $5 per person at the door. Come and cheer on our Soldiers in the Fine Arts!

Pastors’ Luncheon for Middle and High School 

On Thursday, February 29, we would like to honor our pastors at our annual Pastors’ Luncheon.  Each church should have received an invitation in the mail. This week, your student(s) will be given an invitation to hand deliver to their pastor(s). Please encourage your child to use this invitation and personally speak with their pastor(s) and encourage them to attend.  A personal request from the students is much more meaningful than a letter in the mail.  We want our pastors to know how much we appreciate them and would love to have all of our churches take part in this special day.

School Play – Help Needed

Athletic Physicals

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

JV/Varsity  – $100.00    

Junior High – $75.00   

Jet League – $50.00

Bus Transportation 🚌 All HS basketball players are required to ride the bus as a team to the game to Lutheran Northwest on Thursday (2/22) with early dismissal 2:15 and departure at 2:30pm.

⚽️HS Girls Soccer:

Coach Chapman will be hosting girls soccer open gym this Saturday (2/24) from 3pm-5pm in the HS Gym

⚾️HS Baseball Open Gym Workouts: 

Coach Payne will be hosting a baseball open gym Saturday (2/24) from 7pm-9pm in HS Gym.

If your student is planning to participate in spring soccer or baseball please make sure they have turned in a completed MHSAA sports physical signed by a physician dated on or after April 15, 2023. Current physicals are required on file before coming to first practice.
