Dear GCS Families, We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the families and friends who attended the GCS Homecoming. The weather was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see everyone come together to support the team and our school. We thank the Lord for providing for our school throughout the years, and we pray for His continued blessings for many years to come. Your unwavering support not only for the team but also for the school is truly appreciated. It’s a testament to the great community we have at GCS. Go Soldiers!

Sweetest Day

Sweetest Day is approaching quickly!  You can order a candy bar, sucker, or flower for your child, grandchild, friend, or teacher.  Order forms will be sent home today, or you may click on the link to download the order form. The deadline for orders is Monday, October 7th.  Deliveries will be made on Friday, October 18th.

Picture Retake Day- Date coming soon
Picture packages will be delivered mid-October.  Picture retakes will be scheduled for late October. Students who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken on retake day.

Latchkey snack tickets are available for $10. 

 

Billing Information

The daycare has recently partnered with ProCare and will no longer be using FACT SIS for daycare/latchkey billing and payments.  You will soon be receiving an invite from ProCare to set up an account through them.  Please contact Mrs. Britton at cbritton@geneseechristianschool.com for questions about ProCare or your daycare/latchkey account.

 

Elementary

 

No School/Slush

There is no school Oct 3-4 or slush this week. 

 

Elementary Parent/Teacher Conference – Oct 8

There will be no school for students on Tuesday, October 8. Conference times are available to schedule from: 10:00 am -11:45; 1:00-3:45 pm; 5:00-6:15 pm. Please call the office (810-743-3110) to schedule an appointment.

 

Grandparents Day 

Grandparent invitations are being sent out for Grandparents Day. If you did not send a stamped envelope back, the invitation will go home in your child’s folder. The program will be at South Baptist Church on Friday, October 11th at 10:00 am. This event is for grandparents (or stand-in grandparents) only.  Please check your child’s folder today for the bus permission slip. 

Fall Weather Approaching

Because of the cooler mornings, the grass is wet for morning gym classes and recess.  Please send an extra pair of socks with your child.

4th/5th/6th Grade Girls Jet League Basketball (See Athletics Below) 

 

Seat Cushions

The GCS High School volleyball team is selling stadium seat cushions to raise money for new uniforms.  Use the order form link to order GCS Stadium Cushion Order Form.  These would be great for watching Jet League games! See more information under athletics.

Homecoming

Congratulations to the 2024 Homecoming King Austin Flory and Queen Brooklyn Gonzales. We appreciate all of our class representatives and their part in the Homecoming events. We also congratulate the Class of 2025 for winning this year’s Spirit Cup Award. It was a great Homecoming week!

Middle & High School Parent Teacher Conferences – Oct 8

On Tuesday, October 8th there will be no school for students.

Conferences will be 10:00-12:00, 1:00-4:30, and 5:30–7:00 p.m.

Each parent who wishes to meet with a teacher may do so on a first-come, first-served basis at the Middle/HS.  We are asking that parents keep meeting times to 5 minutes per conference. This should allow parents to speak with each teacher regarding their student’s grades/progress and will keep waiting time to a minimum.  

Junior And Senior Parent Meeting

The meeting for Juniors, Seniors, and their parents has been scheduled for October 8th at 7pm in the HS cafeteria.  Please plan to attend this meeting as we will be covering many important details for Juniors and Seniors:

  • GCS events for Juniors and Seniors (fundraisers, senior trip, etc.)
  • College application process – FAFSA, College Board, class selection, etc…
  • Options for paying for college
  • Deadlines – AP testing, Josten’s, final transcripts, etc…

Athletics

Athletic Physicals🩺

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2024. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per athlete/per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

Soldier Volleyball🏐:

  • Need some “cush for your tush” at all of our GCS games? The GCS stadium cushions are HERE! They are $35 each.  Help Soldier Volleyball raise funds for new uniforms! Send in your order form  & payment to school offices and your cushions will be sent home with your student within 1-2 days! These make a great Christmas gift for yourself and family members sitting on those hard bleachers!

Competitions to Come: 

  • Tuesday, 10/1 HS Meet: Birch Run Invitational.  Runners will be dismissed early @ 2:10 pm. 
  • Thursday, 10/3 MS Meet:  Birch Run Invitational.

Congrats to our boys team for placing 1st and our girls team for placing 2nd & to all who medalled at the Kingston Memorial Invitational.

4th/5th/6th Grade Girls Jet League Basketball:

  • Coaches will send out practice schedules
  • Games are played at various schools in our area
  • The first date of play will be Saturday, October 5th 
  • Sports Fee of $50 is due on Monday October 7th (cash or check made payable to Genesee Christian School)

    • Games are played 10/5-11/23 during the time period of 8 am to 3 pm
