Homecoming: Friday, September 27

  • The homecoming soccer game starts at 5 pm. The soccer field is located at the elementary.
    • Admission gates open at 3:15 pm. 
    • $5/person. $20/family.
  • The high school classes will have their own Game Tents this year for kids. The games are free to play and there may be prizes at some tents too! 
    • Game Tents will be open at 4:00 pm. 
  • The Bounce House will be available again this year. The price to jump is $1.00.
    • The Bounce House will be open at 3:15 pm.
  • The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at halftime.

Sweetest Day

Sweetest Day is approaching quickly!  You can order a candy bar, sucker, or flower for your child, grandchild, friend, or teacher.  Please click on the link to download the order form*. The deadline for orders is Monday, October 7th.  Deliveries will be made on Friday, October 18th.

Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey

 

Early Closing For Homecoming Friday, September 27th

Daycare will be closing at 3:30 pm on 9/27 for Homecoming. There will be NO afternoon latchkey.  Please be sure to make the necessary arrangements for your child.

 

Spirit Week 9/23 – 9/27

Tuesday: Costume Day (nothing scary)

Wednesday: Class Color Day (K2-yellow, K3-Green, K4-blue)

Thursday: Western Day

Friday: Spirit Day (Blue and White) 

 

Daycare/Preschool/Latchkey

Latchkey snack tickets are available for $10. 

 

Billing Information

The daycare has recently partnered with ProCare and will no longer be using FACT SIS for daycare/latchkey billing and payments.  You will soon be receiving an invite from ProCare to set up an account through them.  Please contact Mrs. Britton at cbritton@geneseechristianschool.com for questions about ProCare or your daycare/latchkey account.

Elementary Parent/Teacher Conference – Oct 8

There will be no school for students on Tuesday, October 8. Conference times are available to schedule from: 10:00 am -11:45; 1:00-3:45 pm; 5:00-6:15 pm. Please call the office (810-743-3110) to schedule an appointment.

 

Homecoming Help

The Elementary will be selling popcorn and slush at the Homecoming event. We need parent volunteers to help run concessions. Please email Mrs. Arnst at jarnst@geneseechristianschool.com or call the office to sign up! 

 

5th/6th Grade Combined Girls Jet League Basketball:

Practices are scheduled to begin on Friday, September 27th. (Due to Homecoming practice will end @5pm )

  • Practices will be Friday from 3:15 – 5:15 pm in the elementary gymnasium.
  • Games are played at various schools in our area.
  • The first date of play will be Saturday, October 5th  
  • Sports Fee of $50 is due on Monday October 7th. 

 Please turn in cash or checks (made payable to Genesee Christian School) by Monday, 10/7.

Note: All teams will play 1-2 games each Saturday spanning eight weeks. The first date of play will be

October 5th with the season ending on November 23rd. League games will be played in the 8:00 am-3:00 pm time block each week.Admission will be charged for all spectators. $4.00 for individual tickets. $10.00 for a family ticket. $2.00 for senior tickets 60+. 

 

Middle/High School

See You at the Pole – Established in 1990
Wednesday, September 25th is the annual “See You at the Pole.” The event is intended to lift-up classmates, teachers, family, friends, and our nation in sincere prayer before God. The Middle and High school students should meet at the flagpole at 7:45 AM for a time of prayer. 

Dress Days: Spirit Week is September 23-27 – Middle and High School

Here are a few guidelines for the dress days.  Jeans or athletic pants are allowed each day IF you are dressed in the theme of the day.

 

Tuesday – Candy Land Cozy Day

  • Dress in modest pajamas, athletic pants, or sweats; no tank tops
  • 8th hour – Mega-Volleyball

 

Wednesday – Clue Class Color Day 

  • Seniors – Black
  • Juniors – Pink
  • Sophomores – Green
  • Freshman – Purple
  • 8th – Red
  • 7th – Blue
  • 6th – Gold

 

  • Picnic at lunch outside. No 8th hour.

 

Thursday – The Game of Life Day

  • Dress as a different stage of life 
    • Seniors – Senior Citizens
    • Juniors – Middle-Aged
    • Sophomores – College-Aged or Teenagers
    • Freshman – Babies or Toddlers
    • 6th-8th – Your Choice
  • 8th hour – Battleship

 

Friday – GCS Spirit Day

  • Dress in GCS Blue and White to support our soccer team!
  • Jeans or athletic pants are allowed if participating in the day’s theme.
  • 8th hour – Pep Rally

 

 

Wednesday: Picnic Lunch for the Middle and High School Students and Staff 

The Student Council will be providing lunch for everyone in the Middle and High School building on Wednesday, September 25.  The cafeteria will be closed so remember to bring your own lunch if you don’t like hot dogs. 

 

  • Picnic at lunch outside. Hot dogs, chips, desserts, water.
  • Pop will be sold at the picnic for $1.00.
  • Bring your corn hole games, footballs, frisbees, and other outside “toys” to enjoy at lunch break

Middle & High School Parent Teacher Conferences – Oct 8

On Tuesday, October 8th there will be no school for students.

Conferences will be 10:00-12:00, 1:00-4:30, and 5:30–7:00 p.m.

Each parent who wishes to meet with a teacher may do so on a first-come, first-served basis at the Middle/HS.  We are asking that parents keep meeting times to 5 minutes per conference. This should allow parents to speak with each teacher regarding their student’s grades/progress and will keep waiting time to a minimum.  

Junior And Senior Parent Meeting

The meeting for Juniors, Seniors and their parents has been scheduled for October 8th at 7pm in the HS cafeteria.  The meeting will be covering many important details for Juniors and Seniors:

  • GCS events for Juniors and Seniors (fundraisers, senior trip, etc.)
  • College application process – FAFSA, College Board, class selection, etc…
  • Options for paying for college
  • Deadlines – AP testing, Josten’s, final transcripts, etc…

 

Athletics

 

Be Watching: Spirit Wear Orders will be sent home with students this week in time for Homecoming.  💙 If you missed it – there will be a limited number of items available for sale at our GCS Homecoming Game (9/27) look for the athletic tent ! Cash or check made payable to GCS. 

Athletic Physicals🩺

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2024. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per athlete/per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

Team & Individual Sports Picture Thursday, 9/26 

  • MS Girls Volleyball 3:15 inside @ HS Gym  (no games / practice only – remember uniform)
  • JV Volleyball 3:30 inside @ HS Gym
  • Varsity Volleyball 3:45 inside @ HS Gym

All players must be in the team picture which is used for the yearbook.  Individual pictures will only be taken if you tell the photographer you are ordering and hand them a completed order form.  Order forms are available on the GCS school website under athletic tab, using this easy access link 👉🏼 SportsPhotoForm, or in the HS Student Services Office.

Soldier Soccer⚽️:

  • The Soldiers Soccer is selling Culver’s & Tropical Smoothie coupon cards! Look for the table at Homecoming to Purchase!  Each card costs $25 and has plenty of savings and deals to make it worth the card. Coupons can be used at TONS of Michigan locations! Soldier Volleyball🏐:

  • Come out and show your support for Soldier Volleyball this Thursday! JV starts at 5:00 with Varsity playing after. Concessions will be available.
  • Need some “cush for your tush” at all of our GCS games? Soldier Volleyball is raising money for new uniforms and will be selling a limited number of Genesee Christian Soldiers bleacher cushions!!
