Dear GCS Families,
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the alumni, families and friends who attended the GCS Homecoming. The weather was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see everyone come together to support the team and our school. We thank the Lord for providing for our school throughout the years, and we pray for His continued blessings for many years to come. The spirit of joy and unity is a testament to the great community we have at GCS. Go Soldiers!

Sweetest Day Orders
Sweetest Day is approaching quickly! You can order a candy bar, sucker, or flower for your child, grandchild, friend, or teacher. The deadline for orders is Monday, October 6th. Deliveries will be made on Friday, October 17th. Forms are going home today. You may also click on the links below. Thank you for supporting the Junior class!

Picture Retake Day- Date coming soon
Picture packages will be delivered mid-October. Picture retakes will be scheduled for late October. Students who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken on retake day.
Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey
No Preschool
There will be no preschool this Thursday or Friday as our teachers will be at the Teachers’ Convention. Daycare will still be available upon request.
Latchkey Sign In
Please continue to sign your child in and out in the latchkey book. At this time, please do not use the ProCare QR code. If you have children in both daycare and latchkey, you will need to use the book only for all your children.

Grandparents’ Day
Invitations are being sent out for Grandparents’ Day. If you did not send a stamped envelope back, the invitation will go home in your child’s folder. The program will be at South Baptist Church on Friday, October 10th at 10:00 am. This event is for grandparents (or stand-in grandparents) only. Please check your child’s folder today for the bus permission slip.
Fall Weather Approaching
Because of the cooler mornings, the grass is wet for morning gym classes and recess. Please send an extra pair of socks with your child.

Homecoming
Congratulations to the 2025 Homecoming King Alec Garcia and Queen Evalynne Kirkman. We appreciate all of our class representatives and their part in the Homecoming events. Also, congratulations to the Class of 2028 for winning this year’s Spirit Cup Award. It was a great Homecoming week!
Drivers Training: Genesee Driving School
Segment 1: October 9-28 at GCS
Segment 2: October 6-8 at Montrose- students from GCS can join via Zoom the 1st two days of class, but they have to be in person the last day of class.

Middle & High School Parent Teacher Conferences – Oct 23
On Thursday, October 23rd there will be no school for students.
Conferences will be 10:00-12:00, 1:00-4:30, and 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Each parent who wishes to meet with a teacher may do so on a first-come, first-served basis at the Middle/HS. We are asking that parents keep meeting times to 5 minutes per conference. This should allow parents to speak with each teacher regarding their student’s grades/progress and will keep waiting time to a minimum.
Junior And Senior Parent Meeting
The meeting for Juniors, Seniors, and their parents has been scheduled for October 23rd at 7pm in the HS cafeteria. Please plan to attend this meeting as we will be covering many important details for Juniors and Seniors:
- GCS events for Juniors and Seniors (fundraisers, senior trip, etc.)
- College application process – FAFSA, College Board, class selection, etc…
- Options for paying for college
- Deadlines – AP testing, Jostens, final transcripts, etc…

Athletic Physicals🩺
For the 2025-26 school year, an MHSAA sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2025 to be considered a valid physical for 2025-26. – This applies to any students participating in high school and middle school sports.

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have this physical form on file by the first day of practice. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.
Sports Fee
Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

All athletes must be in the team picture which is used for the yearbook. Individual pictures will only be taken if you tell the photographer you are ordering and hand them a completed order form.
