GCS Homecoming- September 26

No School- Teachers’ Conference- October 2 & 3

Homecoming

For our homecoming game, we have a new attraction this year! An inflatable obstacle course!! We will also have our regular bounce house available.  At the gate, we will be selling wristbands for these attractions. Ages 4 and under are $2 for unlimited bounce house play; ages 5 and up are $3 for unlimited bounce house play and access to the obstacle course.

Convertibles Needed!

The 2025 Homecoming class representatives would like to ride in convertibles for the half-time presentation.  If you have a vehicle and are willing to drive two representatives, please contact Michelle Armbrust at marmbrust@geneseechristianschool.com. We still need a few more convertibles.

Dress down days for Spirit Week:

    • Pajama day– wear your modest pjs, robes and slippers.  Don’t forget your stuffed animal
    • Crazy hair/mismatch day– dress silly or do your hair crazy (or both!)
    • Princess/Superheros– dress as your favorite Princess or Superhero
  • Career Day- What do you want to be when you grow up?
  • GCS Spirit Day– wear spirit wear or blue and white to cheer on our Soldier soccer team

Homecoming

We will be closing at 3:30pm on Friday, September 26th due to our Homecoming festivities. There will be NO PM LATCHKEY. We would love to have you come out to support GCS and enjoy an evening of fun for all ages!

Elementary Lego Robotics 

We’re excited to announce the GCS Lego robotics club has begun. This is open to 4th and 5th grade students. The club will meet in the High School robotics room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm-7:30pm. The $50 registration fee is due the first evening of the club. 4th/5th/6th Grade Girls Basketball Program: 

This is an entry-level league that teaches the fundamentals of the game through volunteer coaches. Everyone gets a chance to play.  

All games are played on Saturdays between 8:00 am- 3:00 pm, with each game taking an hour to play. All teams will play 1-2 games each Saturday spanning eight weeks. The first date of play will be October 4th with the season ending Nov. 22nd.  Admission will be charged for all spectators ($4 for individual ticket, $10 for family ticket, $2 for Senior ticket 60 and over).

 

Beginning next week: Mike Ritchie will be coaching a 4th/5th grade team practicing on Mondays & Thursdays and Brian Bouchard will be coaching a 5th/6th grade team practicing on Tuesdays & Fridays from 3:30-5:00 in the El. Gym.

There is a $50 sports fee for all participants due by the first game.

 

Homecoming Help – September 26

The Elementary is planning to sell popcorn and slush at the Homecoming event. We need parent volunteers to help run concessions. Please email Mrs. Arnst at jarnst@geneseechristianschool.com or call the office to sign up. GO SOLDIERS! 

   

Middle/High School

 

Mum Fundraiser- PICK UP TODAY

Mums are here! Please make arrangements to pick yours up after school.

 

Homecoming Hallway Decorating (9th -12th grade)

Hallway decorating will be on Friday, September 19th, from 3:05-9:00 pm. (Any classes needing more time on Saturday must contact Mrs. Armbrust.) You may work before this time to prepare your decorations.

6th-8th – Poster Contest – Students will be working on their posters in Bible class. Small individual posters are required; large posters are optional and may be done as a group of 2-4.

 

See You at the Pole
Wednesday, September 24th, is the annual “See You at the Pole.” The event (established in 1990) is intended to lift-up classmates, teachers, family, friends, and our nation in sincere prayer before God. The Middle and High school students should meet at the flagpole at 7:45 AM for a time of prayer. 

Wednesday: Picnic Lunch for the Middle and High School Students and Staff 

The Student Council will be providing lunch for everyone in the Middle and High School building on Wednesday, September 24.  The cafeteria will be closed so remember to bring your own lunch if you don’t like hot dogs.

Monday – Eternal Slumber Day (Cozy Day)

  • Dress in jeans, modest flannel pajamas, athletic pants, or sweats; no tank tops

 

Tuesday – Mirror, Mirror Day

  • Dress as a twin with someone else  (jeans are allowed if participating)

 

Wednesday – Hallway Theme – Class Color Day 

  • Dress in your hallway theme and/or class color
  • Jeans and athletic pants are allowed if participating in the theme of the day
  • Picnic and games at lunch outside. Hot dogs, chips, dessert  (pop sold for $1)
  • Bring your corn hole games, footballs, frisbees, and other outside “toys” to enjoy at lunch break

 

Thursday – Royals and Peasants Day

  • Dress up as royalty or down like a peasant  (jeans are allowed if participating)

 

Friday – GCS Spirit Day

  • Dress in GCS blue and white to support our soccer team  (jeans are allowed if participating)

 

Bible Project Bake Sale

Segment 1: October 9-28 at GCS 

Segment 2: October 6-8 at Montrose- students from GCS can join via Zoom the 1st two days of class, but they have to be in person the last day of class.

Athletic Physicals🩺

For the 2025-26 school year, an MHSAA sports physical is required for all students who participate in sports. A physical examination must be completed on or after April 15, 2025 to be considered a valid physical for 2025-26. – This applies to any students participating in high school and middle school sports.

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have this physical form on file by the first day of practice. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

             

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.
