‘Tis the Season-for Sickness and Flu
With flu season in full-swing please be diligent in monitoring your child’s health. School policy is that children must be fever-free (without medication) with no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.

Auction News
We are currently looking for business sponsors for our 15th Annual Benefit Auction, taking place on March 16, 2024. If you own a business, or know someone who does, this is a great way to advertise your business and support GCS!
We are also in need of gold ribbon (1.5 to 2.5 inch) and gold spray paint – please send to either school office. Alumni Choir Reunion
We’re looking forward to hearing from the GCS Alumni Choir at this year‘s Christmas program. There will be a few opportunities to rehearse our song before the program. Feel free to join us at any or all of these rehearsals and be sure to spread the word!
– TODAY! Monday, December 11 at 7pm – in the HS Cafeteria. Sight reading for alumni only.
– Tuesday, December 12 at 10:30am – join the HS choir rehearsal in the HS Cafeteria.

Combined Elementary & HS Christmas Concert
Make your plans to join us for an enjoyable evening of Christmas music at the all-school Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 14, at 7:00 p.m. at Mayfair Bible Church. The concert will include musical numbers from all of the elementary students and several high school groups.
*Livestream will be available for the concert. A link will be sent out when it is available.
All students involved in the concert will be expected to arrive at the church at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open to guests at 6:15 p.m. Middle school and high school students should report to assigned rooms at 6:30. Elementary rooms will not be available until 6:45.
Elementary concert dress:
*Elementary students should wear a dressy Christmas outfit. Dress code still applies. Boys should be in dress pants and a collared shirt. NO JEANS, PLEASE.
*Middle School groups should be in concert dress (Boys – black pants, white long-sleeved button-down dress shirt, red or green (Christmas) tie, dark shoes. Girls – knee length or longer black skirt, dressy white top, black shoes.)
*High School groups: Boys – white button down dress shirt, black pants, red or green tie, dark shoes
Girls – dress ordered from Amazon and dress shoes

Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey
Winter Break Hours
Daycare will be open on December 21 & 22. Due to staffing, we will only accept students in Kindergarten, K4, and younger. If you need daycare during this time, please contact Mrs.Kubczak at kkubczak@geneseechristianschool.com or Mrs.Britton at cbritton@genseechristianschool.com. Drop-ins will not be accepted and spaces are limited so sign up early to reserve your spot. We will be CLOSED December 25 through January 2nd.
Latchkey
AM/PM Latchkey Parents – Please remember to sign your child in and out of the latchkey book provided.
Snacks are available during pm latchkey only. $15 snack tickets may be purchased in the daycare or pm latchkey room.
Elementary
Christmas Program – December 14th
Doors to the church will open at 6:15, however, elementary student rooms will not be open until 6:45. Please hang up coats in the hallway and have students use the restroom before entering.

Bucks for Bibles Day – Friday, December 15
The next Bucks for Bibles day is scheduled for this Friday. Elementary students may wear athletic pants and t-shirts.
Winter Outerwear
The weather outside is getting chilly. Be sure that you send your child to school every day with boots, snow pants, coats, hats and gloves. Please label all outerwear. The school is not providing “in case you forgot” extras this year.

We are always looking for photos to put in the yearbook. If you have any pictures from field trips, Jet League games or class parties, please forward them to vtebeest@geneseechristianschool.com.

Middle/High School
Bucks for Bibles- Friday, December 15
The next Bucks for Bibles day is scheduled for this Friday. Bring $1 or more to wear school approved jeans. Remember – this is a fundraiser for our Bible project.
Christmas Activities
On Wednesday, December 20 the GCS high school students will be going ice skating and the middle school students will be going bowling. Permission slips and money for these events are due this Wednesday, December 13. Contact Mrs. Heath with any questions kheath@geneseechristianschool.com.
Athletics
Athletic Physicals
Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

Winter Spirit Wear : All spirit wear items have arrived and were delivered to your students on Friday (12/8) – or you may have received an email regarding pick up. Thank you for your orders and support of the GCS athletic program!
Boys Jet League Basketball:
We are very excited to have the Boys Basketball Jet League starting.
First practices begin today in the elementary gym –
- 5-6th grade: Monday (12/11) & Friday (12/15) 3:30-5:00
- 4th grade: Tuesday (12/19) 3:30-5:00
Sports physicals are not required for this league, but each player is required to pay a sports fee of $50 cash or check made payable to GCS by January 5th.

Friday Night Away Games At Mio HS December 15th! *VG 6:00/VB 7:30pm
Varsity Teams (VG/VB) will be dismissed at 2:15 to ride the bus to Mio.
Bus is scheduled to depart GCS at 2:30pm and will begin the return to GCS when the varsity boys game is finished.

Middle School Boys Basketball
Team & Individual Photos will be taken Monday, December 18th right after school (3:15). Bring complete uniforms (home and away) and be ready right after school. Everyone must be in the team picture which is used for the yearbook. Individual pictures will only be taken if you tell the photographer you are ordering.
