Lunch Accounts
Please check your Family Portal Finance tab to make sure that your child’s lunch account has a positive balance. Lunch accounts are prepaid. All students ordering school lunch should have a positive balance of at least $5.00 in their lunch account before ordering lunch.
‘Tis the Season-for Sickness and Flu
With flu season in full-swing please be diligent in monitoring your child’s health. School policy is that children must be fever-free (without medication) with no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
Scrip Holiday Bonus

Scrip Holiday Bonus savings are here once again! During December, you can earn 75% of the rebates that are earned through the Scrip program. The Christmas season is approaching QUICKLY! During December Raise Right (aka Scrip) offers a wide variety of bonuses including $5 and $10 gift cards. Orders are placed at 9am on select Tuesdays.

Auction News
We are currently looking for business sponsors for our 15th Annual Benefit Auction, taking place on March 16, 2024. If you own a business, or know someone who does, this is a great way to advertise your business and support GCS!
We are also in need of gold ribbon (1.5 to 2.5 inch) and gold spray paint – please send to either school office. Alumni Choir Reunion
We’re looking forward to hearing from the GCS Alumni Choir at this year‘s Christmas program. There will be a few opportunities to rehearse our song before the program. Feel free to join us at any or all of these rehearsals and be sure to spread the word!
– Monday, December 11 at 7pm – in the HS Cafeteria. Sight reading for alumni only.
– Tuesday, December 12 at 10:30am – join the HS choir rehearsal in the HS Cafeteria.
– Thursday, December 14- meet in the choir warm up room at 6:30pm at Mayfair Bible Church

Combined Elementary & HS Christmas Concert
Make your plans to join us for an enjoyable evening of Christmas music at the all-school Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 14, at 7:00 p.m. at Mayfair Bible Church. The concert will include musical numbers from all of the elementary students and several high school groups.
All students involved in the concert will be expected to arrive at the church at 6:30 p.m. Doors will open to guests at 6:15 p.m. Middle school and high school students should report to assigned rooms at 6:30. Elementary rooms will not be available until 6:45.
Elementary concert dress:
*Elementary students should wear a dressy Christmas outfit. Dress code still applies. Boys should be in dress pants and a collared shirt. NO JEANS, PLEASE.
*Middle School groups should be in concert dress (Boys – black pants, white long-sleeved button-down dress shirt, red or green (Christmas) tie, dark shoes. Girls – knee length or longer black skirt, dressy white top, black shoes.)
*High School groups: Boys – white button down dress shirt, black pants, red or green tie, dark shoes
Girls – dress ordered from Amazon and dress shoes

Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey
Winter Break Hours
Daycare will be open on December 21 & 22. Due to staffing, we will only accept students in Kindergarten, K4, and younger. If you need daycare during this time, please contact Mrs. Kubczak at kkubczak@geneseechristianschool.com or Mrs. Britton at cbritton@genseechristianschool.com. Drop-ins will not be accepted and spaces are limited so sign up early to reserve your spot. We will be CLOSED December 25 through January 2nd.

Please be sure to send a coat, mittens, hat and boots with your child.
Latchkey
AM/PM Latchkey Parents – Please remember to sign your child in and out of the latchkey book provided.
Snacks are available during pm latchkey only. $15 snack tickets may be purchased in the daycare or pm latchkey room.
Elementary
Christmas Program – December 14th
Doors to the church will open at 6:15, however, elementary student rooms will not be open until 6:45. Please hang up coats in the hallway and have students use the restroom before entering.

Winter Outerwear
The weather outside is getting chilly. We are asking that you send your child to school every day with boots, snow pants, coats, hats and gloves. Please label all outerwear. The school is not providing “in case you forgot” extras this year.
Christmas Store
Our students enjoyed shopping in our Christmas store last week. A huge “THANK YOU” to all of the parents who volunteered their time and energy to make the store a success. Any extra money and an itemized statement should have come home with your child either last week or in today’s folder (don’t peek until Christmas).

Girls Jet League Basketball: Clean uniforms are due back to the athletic office by this Friday, December 8th. We use these same uniforms for our boys league. Receiving them back in a timely manner is important.

Deck the Halls
Calling all students AND parents to come to the high school on Friday, December 8 from 3:05 pm – 5:00 pm to deck the halls for the Christmas season. Gather decorations and help make the school shiny and bright! Each class is responsible for their section coordinating with their lockers.

Fun Friday – Friday, December 8
To support the GCS Bible Project, Christmas cookies will be sold on the December 8th Fun Friday. Homemade cookies are always appreciated. Please put the cookies in baggies – 4 cookies in each one.

Upcoming MACS Fine Arts Competitions
Registration for the upcoming Fine Arts Competitions has opened! In order for the students to prepare, paperwork allowing the middle school students to look through the various competition entries to decide what they may like to enter in the categories of speech, drama, music, and art was sent out before break and is now past due! Athletics
Athletic Physicals
Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

- Girls Jet League: Please note that washed / clean uniforms are due back to the office by Friday,12/8. We use these same uniforms for our boys league. Receiving them back in a timely manner is important. We appreciate your promptness.

Middle School Boys Basketball
Team & Individual Photos will be taken on Monday, December 18th right after school (3:15). Bring complete uniforms (home and away) and be ready right after school. Everyone must be in the team picture which is used for the yearbook. Individual pictures will only be taken if you tell the photographer you are ordering.

Friday, January 5th!!! Senior Athlete Night is a time to acknowledge senior athletes who have participated in athletics at GCS between 9th-12th grade. Senior Accomplishment Forms are due to the athletic office by Thursday, December 7th.
