Google Calendar – Updated regularly
GCS has a Google School Calendar that is updated regularly that you may add to your Google Calendar. The calendar link is also available on our Home page and Calendar page of our website.
Picture Retake Day & K4 Pictures- Thursday, October 26th
Picture packages will be delivered soon. Picture retakes are scheduled for the morning of Thursday, October 26th. Preschool, K4 students and those who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken on retake day. If you would like your child’s picture retaken, please send their original picture packet to give to the photographer on the 26th.
Lace Up for Learning- 5K Run/Walk
Dr. Wax Orthodontics is giving back to local schools through their “Lace Up for Learning 5K Run/Walk.” This is an all ages family-friendly event! All speeds (walk/run/trot) are welcome to join us on Saturday, November 4th at 9:30am at the Deer Run Soccer Complex (16021 Linden Rd, Linden). This is a fun event- with music, giveaways, and vendors. A portion of each ticket sale will be given back to GCS! Registration price increases after October 10th. Blood Drive
The Honor Society students of Genesee Christian School are reaching out into our community by sponsoring an American Red Cross Blood Drive.
The blood drive is scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2023 from 9:00am to 2:45pm in the High School Cafeteria.

Snacks are available during pm latchkey only. $15 snack tickets may be purchased in the daycare or pm latchkey room.

Bucks for Bibles – October 20
The next Bucks for Bibles day is scheduled for October 20th (The Great Divide). Elementary students may wear athletic pants and t-shirts. Please note: This is NOT an every Friday event, the dates will vary each month and will be announced accordingly.
Operation Christmas Child Boxes
With the cooler weather moving in the holidays don’t feel so far away! We will be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child again this year. Our goal is for each class to pack two boxes – one for a boy and one for a girl. Families may send in items to be packed. Students will write letters, color pictures, and be praying for the children who receive these boxes as they hear the salvation message.
If you would like to order through Amazon (optional) or to view the items on the “wish list” here is a link: https://a.co/7WGadNz This link does not include the “Wow” items (such as dolls, balls, etc) needed to complete our boxes. We need to have boxes packed by the beginning of November so help us get items early!
We will also need financial donations for shipping the boxes. At $10 per box this year we are looking to raise around $200 just for the shipping. If you are able to help with shipping please send in cash or check payable to GCS to the elementary office.
Fall Weather is HERE
With the arrival of cooler weather, the grass is wet for morning gym classes and recess. Please send a jacket and an extra pair of socks with your child.

Annual Fall Fundraising
Time for you, your friends, and your family to stock up with Little Caesars Pizza Kits. Have a pizza on hand for quick dinners, birthday parties or entertaining. The pizza kits are fun to make and delicious to eat. This optional fundraiser earns money for students to be applied to their upcoming trip to Mackinaw, Creation Trip, Washington DC, and/or Senior Trip. Fundraiser packets were sent home Friday with all 6th – 9th graders as well as some Juniors and Seniors. Find a student today to place your order! U of M vs. MSU Coin Drive
GCS is having a coin drive this week to support the Bible Project. It is a competition between the University of Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans and the “others” team. Please send in your donations this week – all proceeds will go to the Bible Project. The winning team participants will receive a free athletic dress day, ice cream sundae and brownie at a future date.
Bucks for Bibles – October 20
The next Bucks for Bibles day is scheduled for October 20th (The Great Divide). Bring $1 or more to wear jeans. Athletic pants/sweatpants for $2 are allowed for this Bucks for Bibles day. Please note: This is NOT an every Friday event, the dates will vary each month and will be announced accordingly. The Student Council will also be selling slushies at lunch on this particular day.
The Jostens’ order form (and payment) is due on Friday, Oct 20! The Jostens’ Rep will be returning to collect orders. If you are only ordering a cap, gown, and tassel the cost is $37.63 – please make your check payable to Jostens. All seniors must order online or by order form on or before this Friday, 10/20.

Athletics
Athletic Physicals🩺Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee
Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.
JV/Varsity – $100.00
Junior High – $75.00
5th & 6th – $50.00

Note: All teams will play 1-2 games each Saturday spanning eight weeks. The first date of play will be
October 7th with the season ending on December 2nd. No games November 25th. League games will be played in the 8:00 am-3:00 pm time block each week.

Uniforms: should be washed and returned within one week of the last game. Clean uniforms are due back to the athletic office by Tuesday, 10/31. We appreciate your promptness.
