GCS Families,
A special “thank you” to all of the GCS students, families, alumni, and staff who were part of the GCS Homecoming Day. We had great weather and joyful fellowship. Mrs. Gebhart did a fabulous job as Grand Marshall, and in leading our student body in the GCS Fight Song. It was a blessing to also see so many former GCS staff members and families. Praise the Lord for His grace and goodness!

Reminders:

Scrip Program – Raise Right
Orders for physical Scrip cards will be placed on the first Tuesday of each month at 9am. This is a change to the previous schedule of every week. The order for October will be placed tomorrow.
Google Calendar – Updated regularly
GCS has a Google School Calendar that is updated regularly that you may add to your Google Calendar. The calendar link is also available on our Home page and Calendar page of our website.
Picture Retake Day & K4 Pictures- date coming soon
Picture packages will be delivered mid-October. Picture retakes will be scheduled for late October. K4 students and those who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken on retake day.
Sweetest Day
Sweetest Day order forms were sent home with your student today. This Junior Class fundraiser gives you an opportunity to send a special treat to your child and gives students an opportunity to send treats to each other. ORDER FORMS ARE DUE BY WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 11th. Any orders received after that date may not be able to be filled.

Lace Up for Learning- 5K Run/Walk
Dr. Wax Orthodontics is giving back to local schools through their “Lace Up for Learning 5K Run/Walk.” This is an all ages family-friendly event! All speeds (walk/run/trot) are welcome to join us on Saturday, November 4th at 9:30am at the Deer Run Soccer Complex (16021 Linden Rd, Linden). This is a fun event- with music, giveaways, and vendors. A portion of each ticket sale will be given back to GCS! Registration price increases after October 10th. AM/PM Latchkey Parents – Please remember to sign your child in and out of the latchkey book provided.
Snacks are available during pm latchkey only. $15 snack tickets may be purchased in the daycare or pm latchkey room.
Elementary
Elementary Parent/Teacher Conference – Oct 10th
There will be no school for students on Tuesday, October 10th. Conference times will be available from 10:00 am -12:00 noon; 1:00-4:00 pm; 5:00-6:30 pm. Please call the office (810-743-3110) to schedule an appointment.
Grandparents Day
Grandparent invitations are being sent out for Grandparents Day. If you did not send a stamped envelope back, the invitation will go home in your child’s folder. The program will be October 13th, 10:00 am at South Baptist Church. Permission slips will be coming home today for transportation to the church for practice and program.
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
The Elementary has had a few cases of HFMD this year. Parade
The homecoming parade was a very special treat. A big thank you to the many sponsors, teachers and parents who worked so hard to make it happen.

The homecoming bake sale was a huge success! Over $1,000 was raised! Thank you for your support!

Middle & High School Parent Teacher Conferences – Oct 10th
There will be no school for students on Tuesday, October 10th.
Conferences will be from 10:00 am-12:00 noon, 1:00-4:30 pm, and 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Each parent who wishes to meet with a teacher may do so on a first-come first-served basis at the Middle/HS. We are asking that parents keep meeting times to 5 -7 minutes per conference. This should allow parents to speak with each teacher regarding their student’s grades/progress and will keep waiting time to a minimum.
Junior And Senior Parent Meeting
The meeting for Juniors, Seniors and their parents has been scheduled for October 10th at 7pm. The meeting will be covering many important details for Juniors and Seniors:
- GCS events for Juniors and Seniors
- College application process – FAFSA, College Board, class selection, etc.
- Options for paying for college
- Deadlines – AP testing, Josten’s, final transcripts, etc.
Drama Help Needed!
The drama department is in need of an electrician to help us with a stage lighting project. If you are able to help, please contact Mrs. Mein at mmein@geneseechristianschool.com.
Drivers Training
Segment 1 October 9-27 (no class on October 10).
Segment 2 class will be held October 16-18.

Help for Students: Algebra
Michelle Armbrust is offering an after-school tutoring class on Wednesdays. Help for students in Algebra will run from 3:05-4:00. Please email if you are interested. marmbrust@geneseechristianschool.com
The Pre-Algebra tutoring class is discontinued.

Fun Friday – October 13, 2023
We will be having Fun Fridays for the next seven months to help raise funds for the Bible project. Fun Fridays work on a donation basis. Families have the opportunity to sign up to bring in various food items to be sold to the student body at the beginning of the day. Athletics
Athletic Physicals🩺Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee
Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.
JV/Varsity – $100.00
Junior High – $75.00
5th & 6th – $50.00

5th/6th Grade Combined Girls Jet League Basketball:

7th-12th Grade Cross Country👟
Cross Country HS & MS teams raced well in the Josh Lott Memorial Invitational Saturday. In the HS race, Brooke Sonnenberg and Ian Ferguson placed 7th, Tori Ferguson placed 16th, Noelle Keelean placed 18th and Ella Kime placed 29th. In the MS race Ariana Stewart placed 1st, Kallie Kubczak and Ryan Stewart placed 2nd, and Maddie Stevens placed 3rd. Congratulations to the HS girls for winning the runner up team award and the MS girls team for winning the winner award! Shout out to all the runners setting PR’s & SR’s.
Cross Country will have an early dismissal tomorrow (10/3) @ 2:15pm for their races in Birch Run.
