GCS Homecoming Game & Parade Parking
We are expecting a large crowd of GCS spectators and alumni, along with our GCS families and students at our homecoming events this Friday. The following parking and shuttle arrangements will be offered to help with parking accommodations and meeting the needs of our families.
A GCS bus will be shuttling from the former Lowe’s parking lot (4274 E. Court Street) which is across from The Home Depot, to the GCS Elementary, to GCS High School, and back to Lowe’s. The shuttle should be making a round trip every 15 minutes starting at 2:45 p.m. from the High School and running until after the game. (i.e. HS – 2:45 p.m.; Lowes – 2:50 p.m.; Elem – 2:55 p.m.; etc.)
Parade Route & Parking
The parade will start at the GCS High School and travel south down Brabbs Street (behind the HS), west along Lapeer Road, and then north on Genesee Road to the elementary. GCS families and high school students will be able to park at the HS during the parade, special locations will be marked. Additional parade spectator parking can occur at the Dollar General (5238 Lapeer Road) or on side streets along the parade route. The parade will start at 4:00 p.m.
Elementary Parking
Parking will be limited to the visiting team, alumni, grandparents, and handicap parking. GCS families and students will be asked to park at the high school or at Lowe’s and take the shuttle to the game. Families will be able to drop off individuals at the elementary if the driver would like to shuttle or they can walk from Lowe’s to the elementary (1.0 mile).
High School Parking
All high school students and parade participants can park at the high school. The shuttle will be making regular stops at the high school along the shuttle route throughout the afternoon and evening.
