Programs that Save
GCS is part of the Direct Your Dollars program and collects the printed receipts from Spartan Nash stores which include: VG’s, D&W Fresh, Family Fresh Market, Family Fare and others. We can earn rebate dollars from these receipts, but they must be the entire receipt! Please send any eligible receipts to the Elementary or MS/HS office.
Early Dismissal-9/29 Homecoming
Elementary and MS/HS students will be dismissed at 2:30pm on Friday, September 29th in order to prepare for the Homecoming celebration.
Homecoming is almost here!!!
The Homecoming Bake Sale is one of many ways we raise the funds needed for the Bearing Precious Seed Bible Project. Please help us with this very important project by donating your homemade goodies to be sold at the Homecoming Soccer Game on September 29. Be creative! Everything helps! Cookies, cakes, pies, brownies, popcorn, bread, the possibilities are endless!
Please bring your items to the elementary school any time between 8am and 3pm on Friday, September 29. Items will also be accepted at the MS/HS between 8am and 12pm. Please package your items ready to sell. Also identify any special details such as the flavor or “with nuts”, etc. Thank you for your help.

Convertibles needed!

Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey
Daycare/Preschool/Latchkey
Daycare will be closing at 2:30 on Friday, September 29 for Homecoming. There will be no latchkey that day.
We are asking all families that will be using Latchkey on a regular basis to let us know ahead of time. This will help us with staffing and planning for the school year. Picture Day

Bucks for Bibles at the Elementary
Friday, September 15th is our first Bucks for Bibles dress down day. Send in $1.00 (or more) for the Bible Project and your child can wear loose fitting sweats/athletic pants and a T-shirt for the day.
Spirit Week September 25-29
This year we will be reflecting on 50 years of GCS training soldiers for Christ with the theme “Golden Reflections”. The Student Council hopes to see all of you at the parade at 4:00 p.m. with the soccer game to follow at 5:00 p.m. Order forms for special snacks will go home in folders next Monday.
Here are a few guidelines for the Elementary dress days.
- Monday: Pajama Day- Robe, PJ’s (modest please), Slippers, Crazy Socks, Stuffed Animals
- Tuesday: Sports/Team Day- Dress in your favorite sports team jersey or uniform. Long shorts are allowed if they go with your theme
- Wednesday: Go back in Time Day- Pick a period of time and dress like someone from that era
- Thursday: Crazy/Twin Day- Find a friend and dress alike or do your hair in a silly way and dress mismatched
- Friday: Spirit Day- Wear your school (spirit wear) colors and get ready to cheer the Soldiers on to a VICTORY!
Car drop off line
Parents, please help us with drop off in the morning by using the Car Drop Off Line from 7:50 – 8:10 a.m. If you need to come into the building, please park in the south parking lot. You will be assisted at the lobby window.
K4 students need to wait until 8:00 a.m. to be dropped off or go into Latchkey due to age/supervision requirements.
Afternoon K4-2nd Pick up
Please remember to come over to the gate to release your child at the end of the day. It is helpful to our staff in identifying you. Thank you for your assistance in this!
Homecoming Help
Elementary will be selling popcorn and slush at the Homecoming event. We need parent volunteers to help run concessions! The more people willing to help the easier it is! Please email Mrs. Arnst at jarnst@geneseechristianschool.com or call the office to sign up! GO SOLDIERS!

Help for Students: Algebra
Michelle Armbrust is offering two after-school tutoring classes on Wednesdays. Help for students in Algebra will run from 3:05-4:00. Help for students in Pre-Algebra will run from 4:05-5:00. Students who would like to stay for the 4-5 class are welcome to stay in the room, where they can either observe the Algebra lesson or use the hour as a study time. Senior Pictures Taken Here – Wednesday, September 13th
In the past few years it has become increasingly difficult for high school Seniors to obtain a head and shoulder picture for the yearbook. This year GCS is having Photo Factory come to the school on September 13th to take yearbook pictures for our Senior Class. The ENTIRE class will have a school picture taken (at no cost) to be used in the yearbook. Additional copies will be available for purchase through Photo Factory. Order forms went home last week. See You at the Pole – Established in 1990
Wednesday, September 27th is the annual “See You at the Pole.” The event is intended to lift-up classmates, teachers, family, friends, and our nation in sincere prayer before God. The Middle and High school students should meet at the flagpole at 7:45 AM for a time of prayer.
Pick up and Drop off – different in the morning and afternoon
Students may be dropped off at the Cafeteria entrance as early as 7:30 am. (students must remain in the Cafeteria until 7:45). Students may be dropped off at the center doors in the morning starting at 7:45 am. Students should be picked up by 3:30 pm at the Cafeteria end (north lot) of the building. The center doors are reserved for MTA bus riders at the end of the day.

Dress Days: Spirit Week is September 25-29 – Middle and High School

- Monday: Step into the Golden Sun – Beach Day – Dress like you’re ready to head to the beach for a day in the sun! Long shorts are allowed!
- Tuesday: Everything Golden Day – Wear anything you have that is golden in color. Facepaint is allowed on this day.
- Wednesday: Class Color Day – Wear the color chosen by your class.
- Thursday: Decade Day – High school students will represent the decade they have chosen for their class floats. Middle school can pick between the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.
- Friday: Spirit Day – Wear your school (spirit wear) colors and get ready to cheer the Soldiers to a VICTORY!
Wednesday: Picnic Lunch for the Middle and High School Students and Staff
The Student Council will be providing lunch for everyone in the Middle and High School building on Wednesday, September 27. Pray for favorable weather! If the weather looks like it might not cooperate – we will be in touch concerning a date change. The cafeteria will be closed so remember to bring your own lunch if you don’t like hot dogs.

Athletic Physicals🩺Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Last week at the Genesee Invitational
Brooke Sonnenberg placed 5th & Ian Ferguson placed 6th, both receiving medals in their event.. It was a great race with improved times. Middle schoolers, Ariana Stewart and Ryan Stewart received ribbons for their races. Shout out to Kallie Kubzcak for most improved!

Bus transportation is being provided for the away game today (9/11) in Elkton and the away game Thursday, (9/14) in Midland. All Players are required to ride the bus to the game. Bus is departing today at 3pm and Thursday at 2:30pm.
