Picture Retake Day & K4 Pictures- Thursday, October 26th
Picture packages will be delivered mid-October. Picture retakes are scheduled for the morning of Thursday, October 26th. K4 students and those who were absent on our original picture day will have their picture taken on retake day.
Sweetest Day
Sweetest Day order forms were sent home with your student last week. This Junior Class fundraiser gives you an opportunity to send a special treat to your child and gives students an opportunity to send treats to each other. ORDER FORMS ARE DUE BY WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 11th. Any orders received after that date may not be able to be filled.

Lace Up for Learning- 5K Run/Walk
Dr. Wax Orthodontics is giving back to local schools through their “Lace Up for Learning 5K Run/Walk.” This is an all ages family-friendly event! All speeds (walk/run/trot) are welcome to join us on Saturday, November 4th at 9:30am at the Deer Run Soccer Complex (16021 Linden Rd, Linden). This is a fun event- with music, giveaways, and vendors. A portion of each ticket sale will be given back to GCS! Registration price increases after October 10th. Elementary
Elementary Parent/Teacher Conference – Oct 10th
There will be no school for students on Tuesday, October 10th. Conference times will be available from 10:00 am -12:00 noon; 1:00-4:00 pm; 5:00-6:30 pm. Please call the office (810-743-3110) to schedule an appointment.
Grandparents Day
The program will be October 13th, 10:00 am at South Baptist Church. Please remember this is for grandparents only.
Slush on Thursday!
Due to Grandparents Day on Friday we will have slush for sale on Thursday this week. You may purchase a ticket for $10 to keep in the classroom or send in $1.00.
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
The Elementary has had a few cases of HFMD this year. Fall Weather Approaching
Because of the cooler mornings, the grass is wet for morning gym classes and recess. Please send an extra pair of socks with your child.

Middle/High School
Middle & High School Parent Teacher Conferences – Oct 10th
There will be no school for students on Tuesday, October 10th.
Conferences will be from 10:00 am-12:00 noon, 1:00-4:30 pm, and 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Each parent who wishes to meet with a teacher may do so on a first-come first-served basis at the Middle/HS. We are asking that parents keep meeting times to 5 -7 minutes per conference. This should allow parents to speak with each teacher regarding their student’s grades/progress and will keep waiting time to a minimum.
Junior and Senior Parent Meeting
The meeting for Juniors, Seniors and their parents is tomorrow October 10th at 7pm. The meeting will be covering many important details for Juniors and Seniors:
- GCS events for Juniors and Seniors
- College application process – FAFSA, College Board, class selection, etc.
- Options for paying for college
- Deadlines – AP testing, Josten’s, final transcripts, etc.
Juniors – PSAT/NMSQT Testing
The Juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT test this Wednesday, October 11. Please make sure that your student arrives at school on time on Wednesday. Late arrivals will not be admitted into the testing room once the testing has begun.
Drivers Training
Segment 1 October 9-27 (no class on October 10).
Segment 2 class will be held October 16-18.

Fun Friday – October 13, 2023
We will be having Fun Fridays for the next seven months to help raise funds for the Bible project. Fun Fridays work on a donation basis. Families have the opportunity to sign up to bring in various food items to be sold to the student body at the beginning of the day. Athletics
Athletic Physicals🩺Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

7th-12th Grade Cross Country👟
A cold windy race welcomed fall this weekend at the Greater Flint Cross Country Championship. Brooke Sonnenberg placed 8th, Tori Ferguson, Elijah Bauer, and Gideon Harwood set PRs. Noelle Keelean set a SR. Ariana Stewart came in 13th at the MS 2 mile race. Way to Go, Brooke & Ariana for placing!
