MTA Announcement- (no change in code)

If you have any questions or concerns regarding MTA bussing in the morning or afternoon the number for Dispatch is 810.780.8917. Thank you!

Auction News

We have one more week for the auction GIFT CARD BLAST. Every student/family that brings in a gift card ($10 value or higher, please) will be entered into a drawing for special prizes. To be entered into this drawing bring in your gift card by January 31st! Please be sure to fill out the donation form when turning in any auction donations, so your family can get the credit. Forms are located in both school offices and on the website. Tickets for the auction will go on sale soon!


Auction Sponsors & Ads Needed

We are currently looking for business sponsors and advertisements for our 15th Annual Benefit Auction, taking place on March 16. Valentine’s Day Orders – Due February 6th

Support the Senior class and get something special for your friend, family member or favorite teacher. Orders will be due Tuesday, February 6th . K5- 12th grade will be receiving their items on Wednesday, February 14th.  K4 will receive their items on Tuesday, February 13th. Thank you for supporting the Class of 2024! Order forms for Elementary students will go home in folders soon! Valentine’s Day order forms are also available online and in the school offices.  Order forms can also be found in the link below.

 

GCS Family Fun Event

 

Save the date- Saturday, April 13th from 10am-12pm The GCS seniors will be hosting a Family Fun Event for our school family as a fundraiser for their senior trip. $10 admission for all skaters, $5 skate rentals if needed, $5 per laser tag game, and $3 bounce house bracelet (under 54”) – Adult spectators will be free. Come join us and spend some time with our GCS family. 

 

Blood Drive

The Honor Society students of Genesee Christian School are reaching out to their community by sponsoring an American Red Cross Blood Drive.

The blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.

Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey

 

Hours of Operations

Our hours are 6:30am to 5:30pm. Please note that after 5:30pm there is a late fee of $8 for the first 10 minutes, and $1 per minute after 5:40 per child. 

Tax Season – Day Care Statements 

If you would like a copy of your 2023 daycare statement, please email Cheryl Britton at cbritton@geneseechristianschool.com and request a copy.  Statements will be issued on a first come first served basis, and will be emailed directly to you.  Paper copies are available upon request.  Accounts can also be viewed on FACTS SIS.

Plan to join us January 25th for an afternoon or evening of fellowship as we look forward to the new semester. Classroom Session Grades K4 – 3rd; State and Michigan Report Meetings 4th & 5th

We are always looking for photos to put in the yearbook.  If you have any pictures from field trips, Jet League games or class parties please forward them to vtebeest@geneseechristianschool.com.

Middle/High School

“SAVE AROUND” Coupon Books (similar to “Entertainment Coupon Books”)

This is a great opportunity for your family to earn money for class trips!  The coupon books cost $25 each with a 50% profit to the seller.  The sale runs now through February 9th.  For more information, please check for an email from Mrs. Heath.

Eyeglasses for Missions

We are partnering with Medical Missions Outreach to collect used prescription eyeglasses and regular sunglasses to send to the mission field in developing countries around the world to give the gift of sight to those in need. If you have any old eyeglasses or sunglasses you would be willing to donate, please send them to the MS/HS this week. Note: Please do not include eyeglass cases. 

 

Winterfest – Dress Days for the High School Building

  • 1/29 Monday: Dress for snow fun: beanies, hats, scarves, mittens, or go all out in snow gear and school approved jeans.
  • 1/30 Tuesday: Cozy Day: GCS flannel PJ’s, comfy, hoodie, slippers, athletic pants and school approved jeans.
  • 1/31 Wednesday: White Out Day: Wear last year’s WINTERFEST shirts or other white shirts and white sweatpants/athletic pants or school approved jeans.
  • 2/1 Thursday: Sports Day: Sports team apparel, athletic pants or school approved jeans.
  • 2/2 Friday: Lumberjack Day: Flannel shirts and school approved jeans.

 

School Play – Help Needed

We are in need of some help building the set for the school play.  If you have a “knack” for building things and would be willing to help, please contact Mrs. Mein at mmein@geneseechristianschool.com.  We would like to build the set either on Saturday, Feb. 10, or Saturday, Feb. 17th.

Athletic Physicals

Students planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file by the first day of practice. This form must be the MHSAA form completed and signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2023. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletic office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fee

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

JV/Varsity  – $100.00    

Junior High – $75.00   

Jet League – $50.00

🏐7th & 8th Grade Girls Volleyball:   

First game is scheduled today, Monday, 1/22.  Away at Morrice 4:30pm & 5:30pm.

⚾️HS Baseball Open Gym Workouts: 

Coach Payne will be hosting baseball open gyms every Saturday from 7pm-9pm in HS Gym.

High School  Basketball Pictures

JV Boys / Varsity Boys / Varsity Girls Basketball Team & Individual Photos will be taken this Thursday, January 25th right after school (3:15). Bring complete uniforms (home and away) and be ready right after school.  Everyone must be in the team picture which is used for the yearbook.  Individual pictures will only be taken if you tell the photographer you are ordering.
