Medication
All medications are to be sent to the office along with a completed permission form.  For all prescription medications please complete and sign the pink school form and include the name and phone number of your child’s doctor.   All medications must be in original containers.

Family Portal – View Student Information
You may view your student’s schedule, grades, homework and lunch account balance in the Family Portal.  This is the same site that was used for enrollment.  The district code is GEN-MI

Latex FREE please
For the safety of our students we provide a latex-safe environment.  This means our buildings are free of latex powder.  For this reason, latex balloons are not allowed on school property.  Mylar balloons are permitted as a safe option.

Closed Campus
In an effort to support safety and wellness we do have a closed campus with no lunch visitors allowed during school.  Parents are welcome to pick up their children and take them out to lunch.  If a grandparent or other relative wants to take a student out to lunch the parent/guardian must communicate with the school in advance via email or written permission.

Share a Ride
A family in Lapeer is looking for someone to carpool with to and from school.  Please contact the administration office for information.  gcs@geneseechristianschool.com 

After School Help Classes
Mrs. Armbrust will be offering after-school homework help classes for students every day after school from 3:05 to 4:00 pm. Please contact her at marmbrust@geneseechristianschool.com if you would like your child to attend any of these help classes.

Tutoring
Mrs. Armbrust is available for fee-based, one-on-one tutoring in reading, grammar, or mathematics (K-9th). Times for sessions are one hour in length from 4:00-5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Please contact her at marmbrust@geneseechristianschool.com if you would like to sign your child up for tutoring.

 

MTA NEWS – Parents Please Email the Office if Your Student is Riding the Bus this Year

We are pleased to announce that MTA has agreed to provide services for our GCS families again this year. We are very thankful for this service and the convenience it provides to so many of our families. Per federal guidelines, students will be expected to wear masks on MTA busses.

 

  • MTA will be charging $55 per student each month.  If a student wants to ride the bus during the school year they need to pay $55 per month for September 2019 through May 2020. This is a total cost of $495 per student per year for riding the bus.  If a student rides the bus at all during the school year (even if they choose not to ride due to athletics) they must pay for the full nine months ($495).
  •  Bus charges must be paid in full to GCS ($495/per student) by August 27th or with your previously scheduled monthly tuition payment through FACTS Management. 
  • Please email gcs@geneseechristianschool.com  with the following information: 
  1. student(s) who will be riding the bus 
  2. method of payment: full payment to GCS or added to your current FACTS monthly payment
  3. the names and phone numbers of emergency contacts

SCRIP Gift Card Program

Scrip is a great way to help reduce the amount of tuition your family pays AND also helps to support GCS. Little Leaders Preschool/Daycare and Latchkey

 

Daycare/Preschool/Latchkey

We have openings in our preschool and daycare program..  Our start date for preschool is Tuesday, September 7.  We are offering $10 off the registration fee if you enroll before August 31st. We are also offering a special gift basket for family referrals to the daycare. Please contact Little Leaders for more information.

 

We are asking all families that will be using Latchkey on a regular basis, to please contact Mrs. Gardner as soon as possible.  This will help us with staffing and planning for the school year. Mrs. Gardner may be reached by email at  pgardner@geneseechristianschool.com.  

 

Elementary

Slush! 

Student Favorite! This Friday (and most of the year) the elementary school will have Slushes for sale for 75¢.  You may also purchase a slush ticket for $7.50 to keep in the classroom. We always try to have a flavor that is free from red dye for students.

 

Summer Math and Reading

Did your child complete a summer math and reading program this summer?  Whether it was a Vacation Station or the forms printed offline, please turn in the completion certificate or your participation sheets.  Mrs. Arnst will be taking them on a picnic in the spring for their efforts. Great job!

Pick Up and Drop Off at the Elementary-STARTS MONDAY

The east parking lot is a student drop off location from 7:50 a.m. – 8:10 a.m.  You will pull in the parking lot, but instead of parking, you will get into a line of cars and wait your turn to pull up to the main doors.  Two adults will be there to open your passenger side door(s) and will make sure your child(ren) are safely delivered to the front door. There will be NO PARKING in the east parking lot during the student drop off times.  If you need to park, or go into the building, please park in the south parking lot and come through the main (east) doors. Upper elementary students may continue to be dropped off at the gym doors.  The student drop off will be in effect for the MORNING ONLY. 

 

Afternoon pick up times are as follows:

The north gate will be opened and lower elementary students will be brought out to the sidewalk for you to pick up.  During the afternoon, parking will be allowed in the east (front) parking lot.

K-4 and K-5 dismissed at 2:50 p.m. and 1st – 2nd dismissed at 3:00 p.m. 

3rd, 4th, and 5th will exit through the gym door (south parking lot) dismissed at 3:00 p.m.

If you are able to provide extra canisters of disinfecting wipes for the classroom it will be greatly appreciated.

 

Physical Needed!

K-4 and new K-5 parents, please remember to have your child’s physical on file with us by the first day of school.  If you have an appointment for a physical after school begins, please call and let us know that date so we can stay within the state regulations. 

 

Box Tops, Office Depot …..and Others

Please download and use the Box Tops for Education App. Several stores are offering bonus Box Tops during the back to school season. The Box Tops program is phasing out clippable box tops, however, any clipped Box Tops you find may still be turned in. Thank you so much for participating!  

 

Office Depot and Target purchases also help when you mention the school name during check out–see above.  We also collect used ink cartridges that we can turn in for store credit.  These help purchase many items from Staples and Office Depot.  Also, Kroger has a wonderful rewards program and is a great way to earn funds for the school, sign up is fast and easy on their website.

 

 

Middle/High School

Course Drop/Add Request Forms
Course Drop/Add Request Forms are available in the Student Services Office and are due no later than 8:10am, Thursday, September 2nd.  No class changes will be official until a new schedule has been given to the student to confirm the changes.  Continue to use your original schedule until a new schedule is received.  Turn in drop/add forms to the Student Services Office.

Pick up and Drop off  
Students may be dropped off at the Cafeteria entrance as early as 7:30 am. Students may be dropped off at the center doors in the morning starting at 7:45 am.  Students should be picked up by 3:30 pm at the Cafeteria end of the building.  The center doors are reserved for MTA busses at the end of the day. 

Covers for Books – MS/HS
All books, except for consumable workbooks, must be covered by students with a paper bag covering (no book socks).  This should be done within the first week of school. 

 

Impact Camp – 11th & 12th Grade – September 8-10 

The Juniors and Seniors will be attending a school “Impact Camp” from Sept. 8th – 10th at Camp CoBeAc.  The cost will be $95 per student to be paid in the office by Friday, September 4th. Permission forms were handed out with student schedules.  These instructional days will include many team building and leadership activities along with motivational biblical challenges.  If you would like to help meet some of the financial needs of this activity, donations can be sent to the HS Office, Attn: Lisa Oliver. 

 

Creation Trip – 8th, 9th, & 10th Grade – September 8-10

The 8th, 9th and 10th grade students will be using three instructional days to visit the Bearing Precious Seed Bible printing facility, the Creation Museum, and the Ark Encounter on September 8th-10th. All remaining balances are available in Family Portal and must be paid in full by Friday, August 27th.  Please contact Mrs. Katie Heath at kheath@geneseechristianschool.com for more information.

 

Senior Pictures Taken Here – Sep 15, 2021

In the past few years it has become increasingly difficult for high school Seniors to obtain a head and shoulder picture for the yearbook. This year GCS is having Photo Factory come to the school on September 15th to take yearbook pictures for our Senior Class.  The ENTIRE class will have a school picture taken (at no cost) to be used in the yearbook.  Additional copies will be available for purchase through Photo Factory. 

PLEASE NOTE: Girls will need to wear a nice modest blouse for their picture and boys will need to wear a collared shirt and tie.

Athletic Physicals

The MHSAA Pandemic Adjustments for athletic physicals are no longer in effect. Students who are planning to participate in athletics MUST have a physical form on file that is signed by a physician on or after April 15, 2021. This applies to high school and middle school sports. Forms must be on file at the school athletics office before try-outs, practices, or games.

Sports Fees

Each student athlete must pay the following sports fee per sport/per season. These fees should be turned in by cash or check made payable to GCS to the Athletic Office before the first game.

JV/Varsity  – $100.00    

Junior High – $75.00   

5th & 6th – $50.00

Practice will begin on Friday, 8/27 from 3:30-5:00 in the  HS gym.  Be sure to have your current sports physical turned in before coming to practice.  Future practices will be at South Baptist Church.
